Loved everything about this hotel! Maintained the integrity of the traditional exterior and common grounds with tastefully designed modern rooms. Spacious room with comfortable bed, plenty of complimentary toiletries, and a relaxing spa (with real-time congestion availability via the TV). Friendly and helpful staff. Kim, who spoke perfect English was absolutely accommodating and suggested restaurants patronized by locals instead of the more common tourist traps. Located half a mile from both subway lines and tucked away from the main street I loved the peacefulness, charm and convenience of this property. Also there are many local restaurants nearby to choose from. Just walk around and let your heart and belly tell you where to go. (Pro tip; there is a quaint restaurant called Kitchen 109 directly across the street from the hotel that offers a meal with lovely sides. Just choose your main dish - I had the most tender pork katsu and it was delicious!

We didn’t realise this at the very beginning but the location was amazing. The little streets of the center are filled with nice restaurants and shops and the best meals we had were on a less than 10min walking radius around the hotel. The old part with the traditional rooms at the front of the hotel is the best part, super beautiful lounge rooms and library. The baths are also really nice, clean and modern. Quite a good relaxing experience after a long day of running around touristing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Particularly the mix between transitional and modern. Quite spacious rooms in Japanese terms. We stayed with our 5 year old daughter and we loved the Onsen. We stayed for 7 nights and loved the location. Close to transport and lots of great restaurants. This hotel is very popular and seemed like there were just big groups coming and going constantly. Staff not particularly friendly but fine. We would stay again

Emma

Lovely hotel in Kyoto city centre, within easy reach of many touristy destinations. The vibe of the hotel was really chilled. We particularly liked the library to hang out. Breakfast was really tasty but please consider other options if you are not keen on a japanese breakfast with rice and savoury food. The opening hours of the onsen were also very good as allowed for some relaxation time at most times.

Sara

The hotel looks exactly as it does in the pictures and yet it still exceeded my expectations. Breakfast is kaiseki style and cold but let's you try a lot of the regional/seasonal vegetables. It's really delicious and nutritious. The public bath was simple but came with a lot of amenities. I was pleasantly surprised by everything and would stay here again.
